
Skin diseases, including infection and allergy, are the most general problems being faced by the people in rural and low-earnings areas of the Katchi colonies and outer edge of the city. This was recognized in two one-day clinical camp organized in Khuda ki Basti, Surjani Town, by the Rural behind and Development Society (RSDS), an NGO work for the welfare of rural minority community in Karachi and interior Sindh.
More than 600 patients including women and kids visited the camps for cure of multiple skin diseases. “Almost 60 percent patients who attend the camps were treated for skin diseases. The problems consist of infections, allergies, spots and rashes. Some of the patients be with severe conditions, and never had been attend by a specialist before,” Amir Hector Peter, the RSDS General Secretary said.
“It was appalling to note so many public with skin problems but no notice had been paid to provide solution to it.” According to specialists and doctors who attend the patients at these camps mainly of the skin problems were due to not disinfected and dusty environment in which these communities live. Insects and dust were the two major causes for skin problems establish in the analysis of two-day camp. The rise in temperature, lack of electricity, ventilation, sewage and waste removal were adding to the misery of communities in such localities.
